I have a habit of purchasing systems right before they’re just about to announce the new versions, so I’m always about a generation behind. However, that doesn’t ever stop me from wanting to buy the old ones! Unfortunately there’s this demonic —but understandable, yes yes— concept called “NO BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY” so I always feel like I should buy older consoles… despite the advent of the PlayStation 4. That’s right, I want a PS3! Still! Despite Gaikai looming over our heads, I don’t think I’m patient enough to wait until 2014 for it to roll out. And even then, how likely is it that I’ll be able to stream all the games I want?
This is one of the reasons why backwards compatibility matters most to me; it’s not that I want to replay games I already own (I rarely ever do unless there’s some serious sidequesting to be done), but I feel like I’m always constantly trying to play catch up. The good news is that I foresee a price drop that will allow for me to happily pick up both, so I ain’t mad about it! And of course, there’s still the matter of getting a 3DS…
when does it end
