Winter ’16, Part 1

I’ve gotten a little lazy when it comes to dramas these days… I’m only watching 3 as opposed to something crazy like 5-6 at once. Just 3…

… Korean dramas, that is. Tricked ya! (Part 2 for Japanese dramas coming later next week.)

Currently

One More Happy Ending / … is abso-fu*#ing-lutely hilarious. If I could rank dramas solely on what strong first weeks they had, this drama would own it. One More Happy Ending also has amazing colors and visuals, so I can’t help but want to cap everything, even when I’m just streaming episodes. I’m like, who is this director? I need this sort of glow in my life.

Cheese in the Trap / Finished episode 3 a while ago, but I decided to wait until the series ends before watching it any further. I’m totally caught up with the webtoon (read the unofficial scanlation) and of the episodes that I did watch, I really liked. I do find it a little troubling that people are woobifying Yoo Jung though. Are we… following the same series???

Signal / Deep Rooted Tree was among one of the first k-dramas I ever watched. Aside from Song Joong-ki, the character that stood out to me the most was musa Mu Hyul. He was just so cool, dashing, and lowkey sassy (those eyerolls). I never got around to finishing it and I doubt I ever will, but I’m glad I finally have a legitimate reason to like Jo Jin-woong now! Anyway, I super love the fact that we are on episode 10 and I have yet to see the quality degrade like other dramas with similar lengths. My only concern is that it is episode 10, we’re only finally getting some meaty stuff on Cha Soo-hyun (who I adore SO MUCH, I love Kim Hye-soo in this — seriously, what an actress), and there’s still half an episode needed to wrap up this currently case. Then there’s Park Hae-young’s background, the overarching mystery surrounding Lee Jae-han, “11:23″… I will be surprised and incredibly impressed if the writers are able to wrap this up nicely. It’s looking good so far though. It’s quite early in the year, but Signal is already a contender for the best.

AND CAN I JUST SAY that Soo-hyun and Jae-han give me so many feels. It’s so obvious she adores him (present, past, I’m crying either way). He’s tough on her, pero like… he’s so gruff and cute too…

Complete

Oh My Venus / I guess this counts, huh? Wrapping up sometime in mid-January, Oh My Venus was a boring drama with very pretty people. The talents (and chemistry 🔥) of So Ji-sub and Shin Mina were absolutely wasted on this drama.
