Winter ’16, Part 2

Always feels nice to watch a Japanese drama, especially since it’s so easy to watch Korean ones so regularly — I say this all the time. As usual, I’m not watching very many and I’m watching them intermittently due to availability and what not…

Itsuka Kono Koi wo Omoidashite Kitto Naite Shimau / Longest title. The longest! Can this drama live up to the heartbreaking genius of Mother and (favorite drama of all time) Soredemo, Ikite Yuku? Time will tell… it did have all the elements of an emotional story line (Cinderella character, lives w/uncle and aunt, uncle is practically selling her away to a man 23 years her senior) and a simple boy from Tokyo. Two lonely hearts. But no! And now I wonder how Sakamoto Yuji can keep it interesting…

Fragile / It’s not bad. It has Koyuki. I am watching this for one reason and one reason only: Nagase Tomoya. He looks good.

Otousan to Yobasete / Endo Kenichi and Watabe Atsuro carved some winning niches for themselves last year; the hapless softie and the arrogant/VERY vain career professional with some heart, respectively. I knew from the premise that Otousan to Yobasete was going to be funny, and it came through! I still cannot believe Renbutsu Misako’s character told her parents that her boyfriend was 28, and then told her boyfriend that her dad is 72… but they’re the same age. THEY’RE BOTH 51. LMFAO. What a mess. The reveal was too good. I’m looking forward to the rest!
